Since setting up this website I have had emails from at least  forty  individuals with   the name Callery or with Callery relatives.

As a result of creating this website I hope to shed some further light on the whereabouts of the members of the Callery Clan,.
The task of finding out the world wide distribution of emigrant Callerys may not be too formidable, since Callery is such a rare name--a glance at the telephone directory anywhere  confirms this, even in Ireland itself.  For example, during a visit to the Pacific coast of North America in September 2001--sadly coinciding with the tragic attack on the World Trade buildings - I glanced at a Seattle telephone listing, to discover there was only one Callery included!
My daughter Susan  who previously worked in San Jose, with Yahoo, and lives in Santa Cruz, has sourced a limited number of Callerys, in locations such as Scott's valley, California, (ex Country Leitrim originally),  a priest, who served in New York and a great uncle of mine, a lady from Texas and a man from Ontario, both of whose antecedents came from County Roscommon, a  man from Kansas and another from Minnesota.
Since setting up this website I have had emails from over thirty  individuals with the name Callery or with Callery relatives.  The Callery Clan is distributed  world wide; apart from Ireland the majority of contacts are widely distributed in the USA - also a few elsewhere in the world, including  Canada, South Africa and Australia, as well as Ireland, England and Scotland.
Apart from a general desire to trace  ancestry back to Ireland many  of the emails indicate an interest  in the origin of the name and in some cases have produced a good deal of additional derivations and variations of the Irish (and Scottish) Gaelic version of the name - it may well be that someone else out there has further information on this score?   If so I would be delighted to hear of any further research/suggestions on this topic.   I hope to compile a list in due course and add it to this website.
